What We Do CAN Make a Difference
What we do can Make a Difference – that’s why Ardis Dispute Resolution is a registered Public Benefit Corporation (PBC).
We believe in the power and importance of social enterprise. At the core of our formation is a legal commitment to operate in a sustainable and responsible manner and use conflict resolution to create a material positive impact on society and the environment, because When Conflict Ends, Opportunity Begins™.
Our mission includes finding ways to provide greater access and reduced cost of conflict resolution to society as a whole. We believe that EVERY individual should be empowered with the tools to peacefully resolve conflict in their personal and professional lives.
Sample Projects
AfriNov Partnership
AfriNov is a Kenyan-based charity that sends trained peacekeepers to rural tribal communities to provide preventative conflict resolution training and workshops to assist (particularly women in the communities) in establishing culturally respectful methodologies for non-violent co-existence. Two years ago, AfriNov identified a gap in their services – the need for trained mediators to assist with conflicts that had already arisen in and amongst these communities. Ardis has established a partnership with AfriNov by providing scholarships for trained AfriNov peacemakers to become certified mediators through the Mediation Training Institute of East Africa (the same program where Ardis founder, Michele Stumpe was certified).
Pan African Sanctuary Alliance (PASA)
PASA is an alliance of 23 wildlife centers throughout the African continent. Due to habitat loss and poverty, rural communities often have conflict with wildlife that threatens crops or enters into land inhabited by humans. Ardis works with PASA to provide training and workshops to PASA’s members on how to deal with these unique conflicts and engage in healthy discussions to find solutions that benefit both the communities and the environment.
Other Projects
Ardis and its mediators support a wide array of social causes both individually and as a company. Ardis is also working with local organizations to develop programs to provide dispute resolution training and services to minority and woman-owned businesses as well as underserved communities.
